Meta-analysis of prospective cohort studies evaluating the association
of saturated fat with cardiovascular disease1,2,3,4,5
Patty W Siri-Tarino, Qi Sun, Frank B Hu and Ronald M Krauss
Conclusions: A meta-analysis of prospective epidemiologic studies showed
that there is no significant evidence for concluding that dietary
saturated fat is associated with an increased risk of CHD or CVD. More
data are needed to elucidate whether CVD risks are likely to be
influenced by the specific nutrients used to replace saturated fat.

Sounds good, but I wonder who paid for the study.

Relevant Financial Relationships
Ronald M. Krauss, MD, has indicated relevant financial relationships as
noted: he is a consultant for Abbott Laboratories, AstraZeneca,
Bristol-Myers Squibb Company, GlaxoSmithKline, Merck, Pfizer, Inc;
advisory board for Abbott Laboratories, AstraZeneca, Brisol-Myers Squibb
Company,
INTERNATIONAL DAIRY FOODS ASSOCIATION (capitals mine);
speakers bureau for Abbott Laboratories, KOS Pharmaceuticals, Merck,
Merck-Schering Plough, Pfizer, Inc.; Grantee for Merck, Merck-Schering
Plough, Pfizer, Inc.

The above doesn't meant anything, but it raises questions about a
conflict of interest.

I would think that all those drug companies would want to see a
relationship.

Not at all; a recent study found that saturated fat in the diet reduced
circulating saturated fat in the bloodstream.
Drug companies want you eating wheat and sugar.

And drinking soda and fruit juice and eating ice cream. Most any grain
is good for them too. Humans started eating grain a mere 10K years ago
and probably your ancestors much later.
